The inaugural season of the Millennium Master Chorale of Central Florida (MMC) was begun in 2014-2015, under the direction of founder and artistic director Lisa Elliott (pictured above, bottom left) with pianist Thomas Pizzi. The Chorale was formed with the purpose of entertaining audiences through the performance of masterworks and other quality choral music, hoping that this endeavor would expand the knowledge of and appreciation for the choral music art form in central Florida.
MMC performed with the Florida Lakes Symphony in December, 2014 at "Light Up Clermont" and "Christmas in Mt Dora". That year, the Chorale also performed at the inaugural Crescendo Choral Festival in January, 2015 at Morrison United Methodist Church in Leesburg. In April, 2015, MMC presented its first Spring concert "Of Heaven and Earth", featuring music by Schubert, Thompson, Haydn, Brahms, and Ward.
Since that first season, the Chorale has obtained non-profit status, and has continued to fulfill its mission under the artistic direction of Karyl Elton and pianist Beverly Sapp. The all-volunteer choir of about 50 members draws singers from throughout Central Florida. MMC aspires to attract a wide variety of both singers and audiences who want to perform and hear excellent choral music. Performances are presented during the holiday season and Spring season in Leesburg at Morrison United Methodist Church.
